Club life: A year-round affair

Life at BPYC revolves around time on the water and the people who share it with you. Whether you race, cruise, or simply enjoy being part of an active sailing community, the club offers a rhythm of events and experiences that keep members engaged throughout the whole year.

Racing impressions

BPYC has a proud tradition of competitive but welcoming racing. From spring through fall, our active fleet competes in regular basin races alongside neighbouring clubs, ensuring strong participation and lively competition every week. Many members also travel to regattas around the lake.

Racing at BPYC is inclusive and progressive: Spring seminars and practice races (‘Fun Nights’) help new sailors build confidence, learn the rules, and get comfortable on the start line. At the end of the season, the Little Canada's Cup offers a friendly introduction to new race skippers, with a club-wide BBQ to celebrate the race season.

Trophies in the clubhouse tell the story, but the real reward is great racing shared with fellow sailors.

Cruising is at the heart of BPYC’s sailing life. Each season, members participate in an active program of organized club cruises—typically six per year—to destinations east, west, and south of the club. These group cruises are social, relaxed, and ideal for newer sailors who appreciate heading out in company with experienced hands nearby.

Beyond organized cruises, members take full advantage of reciprocal privileges with sailing clubs throughout Lake Ontario, often staying at little or no cost. Those wanting to venture further, will find experienced skippers who have undertaken further  voyages - to the North Channel, the St. Lawrence, the Maritimes, the U.S. East Coast and the Caribbean - eager to share their knowledge.

Whether for a weekend or a season-long adventure, BPYC is a natural launching point.

Year-round community

BPYC is a year-round community, not just a seasonal sailing destination. The sailing season is marked by classic traditions—Launch and Haul-Out parties, Sail Past, and the Commodore’s Ball—alongside lively events such as island parties, pirate nights, oyster dinners, BBQs, and casual Friday-night gatherings before weekend cruises.

When the boats are out of the water, the clubhouse remains active with Sunday socials, holiday celebrations, book clubs, card games, family events, and seasonal favourites like the New Year’s Levee.

A fully equipped kitchen and community BBQs make the clubhouse a natural gathering place - with fellow BPYC members or bringing family. Either way, our spectacular view of the lake and Bluffer’s park will be a highlight either way.

At BPYC, community happens easily—and often. NEW MEMBERS WELCOME - CONTACT OUR MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR!
